Walks — Stromovka Royal Park, old royal hunting grounds founded in 1268, is now the largest city park with an area of ca 89 ha. Popular for runners, rollerbladers, bikers, families with kids, couples in love, dogs, horse-riders, petanque fans, groups of young people that like to play. Have a picnic by a lake, and if you can’t get enough of walking, continue further to Troja Castle, Z00 or Botanical garden that are ”just” over the Vltava River. Tram 5, 15, 17, Vystaviste stop or 1, 8, 15, 25, 26 Letna stop.
Divoka Sarka is a beautiful woody and rocky, ca 12 km long valley, along the Sarka brook, with breath-taking views. It‘s a nature preserve. If it‘s too hot you can refresh yourself in the swimming pool. Try one of the Czech favorite sweet goodies, rakvicka, in the near garden restaurant. Tram 20, 26 Liboc stop.
Pruhonice is definitely a must see place, especially if you are visiting Prague in May or June. In the Pruhonice castle park, with area of 240 ha, you will be amazed by the beauty of thousands of blooming rhododendrons. The axe of the park is formated by a small river, Botic, with three lakes, surrounded by rocky parts, alpinium, medows and forest. Pruhonice is a small village on the Prague periphery within the reach of Prague public transport. Bus 324, 325, 385 from Opatov metro station (line C); fare zone 1.
